A Brief Discussion of the Fuel Tank Powder Coating Process
Jul 11, 2026
Powder coating, also known as electrostatic powder spraying, is a dry coating technology. Its core principle is electrostatic adhesion. This process is environmentally friendly, efficient, and provides excellent coating performance, including superior mechanical strength, adhesion, and corrosion resistance. Before powder coating, we ensure that oil, dust, and other contaminants are thoroughly removed from the surface of the oil tank, and that the surface is free from impurities such as burrs and welding slag. After pretreatment, masking is required. Cardboard or nuts are used to cover certain openings and protect areas that do not require powder coating. The products move into the spray booth along the conveyor hooks, and each product generally undergoes four or five stages of CNC automatic powder coating and manual touch-up spraying. Our company uses epoxy powder coatings, and products that undergo multiple powder-coating applications offer both industrial practicality and environmental friendliness. After coating, the oil tanks are sent to a curing oven for high-temperature heating, allowing the powder to melt, level, cross-link, and cure to form a dense coating. After curing, they must be cooled and then undergo performance inspections for appearance, coating thickness, adhesion, and other properties before leaving the production line.
